There is a disgusting thing that a few locals do on the beaches by Sandy beach, they are called bush whackers and they hideout off the beach and watch women go by. While they are relatively harmless, I know it freaks people out and rightly so, just want everyone to know that they are there some times. Other than this, small petty crime such as theft is the only crime in Rincon, use your common sense, don't leave valuables unattended.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04355971656948136760noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9029334960772228889.post-28397267134271823942012-01-07T22:30:17.180-08:002012-01-07T22:30:17.180-08:00What would you tell a friend who was visiting Rinc...What would you tell a friend who was visiting Rincon? I...Styrofoam clamshell containers should disappear. If you stop on the road for an arepa you get it in a giant clamshell container which you immediatly open and throw out. It is in your hand for 10 seconds. Subway - a sandwich wrapped in paper, stuffed into a plastic bag with too many napkins which you walk from the counter to the table with and throw it all out. Or in the bakery - a single cookie on a foam plate with a napkin in a bag. I always tell them I want it in my hand and have to argue to get it that way. Then there are the stir sticks, plastic lid and packets of sugar for a mini cup of coffee. I had a discussion with someone at SAMS when I was excited to see an insulated, sturdy, big, inexpensive reusable bag available. The old guy said he'd never use one! Stronger cloth bags don't end up as 10 minutes bags, you don't damage your joints undoing knots and can put more than 2 things in it. I'd be great to get a grant (or know how to sew) to stand in the stores and provide a free cloth sturdy bag to some of the older people. I think they wouldn't go back once they tried them. OR have plastic bags be half as tall, twice as strong and able to hold a half dozen things. When a store first gets to know you they put everything in plastic bags and then inside the cloth ones. They just don't get it!Jeff and Katrina Krusehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02471956754496100265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9029334960772228889.post-11373919551847408832012-01-02T17:29:08.481-08:002012-01-02T17:29:08.481-08:00The issue of recycling is la the Legend of Bigfoot...The issue of recycling is la the Legend of Bigfoot and the Eastern Bunny just sillynessreinaldohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00098157255254768410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9029334960772228889.post-86354505427688451962011-12-30T07:18:47.285-08:002011-12-30T07:18:47.285-08:00Yeah Jim! He lives and works on the mainland where the GRINGOS tolerate his pre-school English even though he hates the GRINGOS. He likes to push the buttons of mainlander bloggers in many ways, including the use of the derogatory GRINGO word. He is definitely part of the problem. He has written that he defends dog fighting and cock fighting as cultural. As a Puerto Rican, I know the type. He is one of a minority of Puerto Ricans who practice animal abuse and foul their own land. He also believes no one is supposed to write about any negative observations in PR. It's not enough to dedicate 90% of blogs to the beauty and pleasures of PR-- if you write anything negative, he'll tell you to move to Hawaii or back where you came from. Very original. Even though he lives in the US, apparently he's not familiar with Constitutional rights.
